As an extension of our English Language Arts unit, readers in Room 123 have been enjoying and analyzing folktales from around the world.
This retelling of an Ashanti tale by Gerald McDermott was one of our favorites. So we decided to add this story to the Folktale CyberDictionary Project!
Our dictionary entry included a retelling of the story as well as an alphabet book based on the tale. Above you can see students brainstorming words for the alphabet book. Then each student wrote a sentence for the word and illustrated it.

Thank you children for the delightful retelling of the story of Anansi. It’s one of my favorites also, and now that it is added to the CyberDictionary, students all over will be able to read it.
Was great to see you working on coming up with words for each letter of the alphabet that fit with the story. You did a really great job.
