March madness has hit Richards first grade, with a literary twist: each first grade class nominated titles for a Tournament of Books! Each week, students will vote for their favorite books in each match-up until the Book of the Year is chosen. Students will count votes, determine the winning margins, and keep running vote totals for the winning titles.
To persuade others to vote for their titles, students in each class wrote book reviews. In Room 123, students worked as a class to brainstorm reasons why first grade students might like the books we chose. Then students worked in small groups to write their reviews and select photos from the books that highlighted the reasons. Finally, they added leads and conclusions to their work. You can see their reviews below.
Students in each class will read all the book reviews before voting. Watch for updates as the voting begins!
