During both language studies and science, students have been learning about insects. They have directly observed our mealworms as these insects moved through their life cycle. They have also read and analyzed nonfiction texts about insects, confirming their schema and adding new learning.
This week, students began reading poetry about insects–specifically bees. After I read one of Douglas Florian’s poems, students drew on both the imagery from the poem and their own knowledge of insects to visualize the poem. Take a look!
