Special Events
These April showers…
We are confident that April showers will bring May flowers. But in the meantime, this long stretch of rainy weather is a bit wearing.
To counteract the gloom, first graders gathered together to create some fabulous flowers.
With help from the first grade teachers, these bright blooms are now hung throughout Richards School. First graders hope they will bring everyone a little cheer!
Art Show
Richards School will be hosting an art show on Thursday, March 21 from 4:30-6:30 in the Fine Arts wing. The event will feature at least one piece of artwork from each student at Richards. Guests will also have the opportunity to create art, courtesy of the Kohl’s Art Generation program at the Milwaukee Art Museum.
Above you can see artwork by first grade students based on William H. Johnson’s Three Children. This piece was introduced to students in their classrooms by Art for Youth parent volunteers. Students then created their own versions working with Art teachers Ms. Danforth and Mrs. Miller.
Special thanks to Ms. Danforth, Mrs. Miller, and the Art for Youth volunteers for making this special event possible! We hope to see you there!
A bit of the Irish
Students at Richards enjoyed learning about Irish culture when dancers from the Rince Nia Academy of Irish Dance performed on Wednesday!
Field trip!
First graders were excited to learn about storytelling in art at the Milwaukee Art Museum on Tuesday!
Below, some students focused on Dale Chihuly’s glass work.
Others observed Laurent Casimir’s work in the museum’s collection of Haitian art:
Special thanks to Mrs. Schaller for accompanying us and taking photos!
The hills are alive…
The Great Hall was alive with music too, when cast members from the WFB High School production of The Sound of Music visited Richards during lunch time!
Performances are scheduled for the first two weekends in March. Click here for more details.

Roscoe at Richards!

This event is both a great fundraiser and a fun time for Richards School. For more information, check out the Thursday Folder Link.
Making a winter wonderland
