Throw your tooth on the roof
Learning about life around the world is the focus of our current Social Studies unit. We began this unit by exploring answers to this question: What do children around the world do when they lose a tooth? The answers surprised many of us!
After reading Throw Your Tooth on the Roof, we found there are many different tooth traditions. Click on the photo to see a larger version.
Initially, we organized these traditions by location. To actively process this new information, students then considered different ways to sort the traditions. This step will help learners better understand and remember what they have read. Students noticed similarities between many of the traditions and decided to sort them by those similarities.
